FR. RON’S RAMBLINGS! Fr. Simon seems to have made a rapid adjustment to life in Hudson. I think his international experience in Africa and Europe gives him a certain advantage when he enters a new culture. In another month I will be taking my summer vacation and Fr. Simon will be ‘in charge’! I am sure that by then it will all be second nature to him. As these summer days continue along, the pace of life is a little slower and there is more time to take Abby out and to enjoy the warm weather. The flowers around our grounds are beautiful, as usual, thanks to Antonio’s green thumb and dedication. Taking in all the richness of nature and the task of tending to it, helps us to understand and appreciate the scripture reading we have these weekends. Jesus so often uses imagery from nature to teach us about Himself and about his message. Last week we heard about the sower who went out to sow seed which fell on various types of soil. Today Jesus uses the parable of the farmer who sowed good seed but his enemy planted weeds in its midst. One of the most important images from nature Jesus uses is also about a seed. He says that if the planted grain of wheat does not die it cannot bear fruit. In nature, death yields to new life…and our own deaths yield to the new life of the Resurrection. This of course is central to our Christian faith. The seasons of the year reflect the cycle of human life. When we look around and take in the beauty of these summer months, may we be reminded that God is in charge and will provide for us whatever we need the most
